On a BlackBoard Discussion you start by creating a "thread". You are able to reply right below. There is no limit of characters per thread or reply. One is also able change the font, either that be font, size, bullet list, and many more features. On Twitter you start by creating a "tweet". You are able to retweet, reply, or like someones tweet. However, there is a limit of characters on a tweet you create. To respond you must use the @ symbol and the users name. Since now we have done both for class, I like that I was able to see if someone replied to my tweet and hear their thoughts. Unlike BlackBoard discussion I didn't know if anyone replied to my thread. There was no notification. However, the whole process of creating a post for classmates to respond, I felt Blackboard was very smooth. Since this is my first time using Twitter, I found it a bit more difficult. I had to stay in the character limit, make sure I was responding a classmates tweet the correct way. Also I had to search for other classmates tweet through the hashtag we have for the class.
I agree with you that Blackboard was smoother in navigating through responses and finding classmates post. Using Twitter it's much harder to find the beginning of a thread that someone may be responding to. The benefits of using Twitter was that it gave me live updates on classmates responses.
