Wiki So Far

On our class wiki, one page I found interesting is the Social Media Against Companies. When there is an incident in public, you see people take out their phones to record or take pictures of the incident. Next, many will post it on social media to grab the public's attention or if the incident was a companies location, such as store, plane, bus, train, ect. This has been a trend. It brings awareness to any unfair treatments, from employees to the customers. One example is when a Starbucks employee called the police on a group of black people in the coffee shop. My goal is to contribute to this page and add two incidents of social media against companies. Part of my research is to see the backlash companies have received on social media through reliable source and much more.

  1. This is very interesting and I am grateful that you are covering this topic. I hope to read more of your research and the implications that companies have faced due to their lack of awareness.

  2. This is a good topic to have. Social media could influence a company heavily. People could use this as a weapon to call out the company wrong doings or it could benefit them with positive news. I always see companies like Apple being hacked. This could lead to many factors such as investment decisions or consumer purchases.
